Hi s,
The best way to determine what the engine's configuration was when it was installed in this car (if this is the car it was originally installed in at St.Louis) is by checking the engine's 'assembly code' that was stamped on a pad on the block just forward of the right side head.
The first part of the stamp is the date the ENGINE was assembled (not when the CAR was assembled) and the 2 letter 'suffix' indicates the configuration.
Since it appears this is a a/c car it could likely have HO or HE (300 hp) or HP (350 hp).
The second stamp on this pad is the partial VIN of the car this engine was first installed in.
Regards,
Alan
This pad is from a 71. The 'suffix' was changed to 3 letters at the beginning of 70 production.
