Did I get ripped ?????
my mechanic is charging me about $600 (part alone) for a new radiator
for my '71....do you think this is out of line ???
He's a vette guy (2 NCRS Certified 67 427's) so i hope he's being
up-front with me.
What do you think ?

How do you think he can afford 2 67 427?
I think that is little high even for a NCRS. If you do not want a NCRS replacment rad you can get an alum one for under $200.

New radiator core, used my old tanks requiring additional work, stayed within NCRS guidelines- $331.25.

Re: Did I get ripped ????? (Fevre)
The dimensions seem wrong to me on that one: 25 x 17, here is what I have and it is a direct fit:

Your car had an expension tank so that might be a consideration but still think $600 is too high for a brass rad.

Re: Did I get ripped ????? (paul79)
you guys are comparing apples to bowling *****. If you check the Zip website, you will see that they sell reproduction brass/copper radiators for $299. They also sell reproduction aluminum radiators for $779. Your mechanic is taking the customary 100% markup, except he probably pays less than $299. MJ
BTW, where is your mechanic? always good to know where to find a vette expert, even if he is a little pricey! :)

You sure it's for a brass one because Mid America Catalog shows that brass
ones START at $299. And reproduction aluminum ones are around $799.
