Brake Manifold Block Switch
I recently purchased a 69 Corvette.
I initially noticed the connection to the brake switch on the manifold block was disconnected. Upon connecting it now each time the brake is applied I notice the brake warning light above the tachometer comes on.
I also notice that as I apply the brake for the first 30-40% of the brake travel there is not much braking pressure applied to the brakes. The brake warning light comes on at this time. Once the brakes are released the brake light disappears.
I am new to Corvettes and older american cars and I am not entirely sure how responsive the brakes should be given the car is from the 60's.
I am guessing the previous owner pulled off the connection to the switch to stop the brake warning light illuminating.
Any thoughts or advice on what I should do? Should I take it in to the mechanic?
Thanks in advance

Welcome!
First post!!!
The service brake system on your car is designed so that the front and rear brakes are separate from each other.
The electrical switch you connected measures the pressure in both systems and the warning lamp on the tachometer face illuminates if they aren't equal.
In looking under the car do you get any indication of brake fluid leaking at the wheels (look at the inside of the wheels for dark stains) or at the various brake line connections?
Obviously you want your brakes to function normally so should have the brakes checked out.

Alan
Still a bit baffled that the previous owner would just disconnect the switch on a safety critical item such as the brakes!
There doesn't appear to be any leaks near the inside of the wheel but a bit hard to properly tell in my cramped garage.
