Well my 2 bolt is now a 4 bolt main. Next stop line hone. That was a fun project and fairly easy but my caps were almost a perfect fit so that helped tremendously.
Before all holes were drilled to .8950 Made a dead center on the lathe to use for drill placement. After I was centered I locked the table down and zeroed the readout just in case something shifted and we drilled and tapped and then unlocked the table and on to the next. Used a center on the Bridgeport to keep tap aligned. Every hole was centered, drilled and tapped with the table locked down to keep everything as perfect as possible. I got lucky with these caps. All done.
i just want to see the manifold on that thing already , what kind of rotating assembly did you agree on
scat forged everything with h beam rods and 20cc dome pistons, I’m getting it from mike Lewis of wolfplace and having him balance the crank. Also getting my fully cnc’d 265 afr’s from him set up for solid roller from cstraub.

yes Forman your manifold is going to look beautiful on here👍
How did the rear seal from cap to block line up, Sometimes that can be a PIA..............
you know I got extremely lucky with these caps, it was maybe .001 off . Again I couldn’t believe how snug these caps fit in the registers and how close all the bores lined up.

You are very lucky I seem to get all the horror shows to machine. Good job !!!!
Nice job, well done. See it wasn't that hard, just a little time consuming.
yes just not getting too confident and taking time with evey step. It was a fun little project. Thanks Pop Chevy! You know it was a few of your posts that kept me confident in doing this conversion. Thanks for your positive feedback in my previous thread👍. You guys are 😎

Yer welcome. NOW , make sure you remove ALL the plugs in the block to get all the metal chips cleaned out. I even polish the insides to get all the casting flash , you won't believe the casting sand and crud trapped in the cavities. Ya can't get em too clean.

ill make sure to do that, that’s crazy still sand in there from the factory?
So I'm guessing that wasn't originally a corvette block because I thought all corvette blocks were already 4 bolt mains?
The vast majority of all L48s (and the 327 blocks they derived from) were 2 bolt, even in Corvettes. You'll find the occasional 4 bolt L48 which was supposedly due to inventory problems in which case the line would use an L82 4 bolt block.
