Harmonic Balancer choice
I just found out that my 74 L82 is running a 6 3/4" harmonic balancer, when the original has to be an 8" one.
I have a performance top end, but I don't intend to race the car so I don't know which one would be a better choice.
These are my candidates for now

Which one is more more convenient?
Feel free to post any other option you think is better, with a reasonable price, for a sunday driver who likes to rev the car sometimes.

Quality dampers are a lifetime buy. You actually want to have the lightest small diameter that includes dampening effects.
I use the ATI 6.250 inch

On a race car I agree, but on a street car the bigger the better in my opinion. That’s why originally a 8”
was on the L82 engines.

Yes, and they are potentially dangerous pieces of junk. Mine actually broke from the inner to the outer and made it appear that the timing was way off. I imagine that is why yours was replaced at some point.
bigger is like a flywheel effect and doesn't aid in torsional dampening

To this day, do you think that the GM bean counters have ever given a damn about what is best to install in a car to give the best performance?
Maybe you should look to buying a Ferrari.

As I said, I'm not looking to race the car or anything similar...I just want a dumper to properly absorb vibrations...simple as that.

And, as i said, the BEST balancer over the entire RPM range of a SBC engine is the Rattler.
Maybe 3x $ of the Summit ones you suggested, but, 4x the engineering!
Dollars rule!

Chevy made some pretty good balancers. Easy to find used, too.

Leave the 6 3/4" balance on there if it is in good shape......
Bigger is not better and when I rebuild a 350 the 8" goes in the round file. Not really sure what GM was thinking when they stuck that paperweight on there.
The 350 is neutral balance and has little harmonics although it does have some. It is really up to how well it is balanced internally.
This is a good place to save rotating weight......as the whole assembly is rather heavy to begin with.

I finally ordered the Power Bond.
Let’s see how it works. I will buy also a new timing cover seal in order to replace the existing one, because is leaking a bit

They make a good balancer. I bought one of the SFI ones for my 454. Real nice parts.
