Default C3 Breaks

If I change my engine and put a 450 plus horsepower engine in my Corvette will I have to change my brake system to or will I still have enough stopping power with my stock brakes

Considering the brakes in your car are 4 piston calipers with vented rotors they are plenty strong enough.

The brakes on a C3 can handle a 1,000 HP. Its the driver that can't handle it.

Knowing the year of your car would be a great help.

Your brakes should be just fine. If you still feel that they are suspect and you do not like them..install a HydroBoost system and you will not regret it.

And I am assuming the 450+ HP is at the crankshaft??? Commenting on anything that deals with the rest of your driveline is subjective due to not knowing what oyu plan on using the car for and so on.

Before making any changes I would look at different pad material choices.

I have my 78 that I use mainly for track days. 25 Minute sessions. The factory type material last for about 3 laps and then I get brake fade. Changing to better pads I can drive the complete 25 minute sessions with almost no brake fade.

It's not the HP that is important but how often and from what speed you need to stop from.
