Alan is very generous with his compliments but I can only tell if its NOT real depending on how bad the restamp might be. If the restamp was done really well its hard if not impossible to tell with a tranny. Engine pad stamps can be verified by CCAS.

The problem is this. I have yet to see a factory 69 427 with AC, a M21 and let alone with a 370 rear. The factory did not make them because they were afraid the AC belt would fly off the pulley, the same reason you don't see them on 435hp cars at all.

You may have an original drive train 400hp setup. I am guessing someone added the AC after the fact. Take a pic of the engine stamp if you can.

The other problem is someone went through the trouble of making a forged tank sticker. That's just a bad sign all around for the car. Now you know someone was not being honest. That's bad news. Hopefully it was done just to say the car had AC and the rest is factory original.

Either way, you car looks great.

Nobody really knows how many 400hp verts came with AC. But that's the car most likely to have AC added to it for the very reason there probably aren't too many and its the highest HP car to get AC. The extra value added to the car is worth the trouble.

I personally think the percentages are higher for 400hp cars to have AC for the very reason that it WAS the highest HP car to get it. Buyers opted for it. Either way numbers are still low since they only made a little over 2000 L68's.

Agreed. The minute you see a fake tank sticker, not one that was re-copied, but one that has the added rips and smudges from someone trying to remove it from a tank, leave everything in question. you car is awesome with or without the tank sticker. I would love to own it. It looks as if that wasn't enough for someone, they had to do something to make more out of it.

I was shocked at how dark the ink is on those two...here are mine, one from the tank, removed before I bought it, and one stuffed behind the dash.
