It depends on how hard or dense the w/strip you have currently is. NOT ALL w/strips are the same. They may LOOK the same but they 'feel' quite differently.
Contact STEELE rubber products due to they more than likely have an option for you that may be a bit thinner....or at least the same dimension but softer.
I know you just got your hood adjusted in another thread....so hopefully you can get your hands on a w/strip that will work for you.
I know that lately the ones I have been getting are soft and work just fine.
