If you are referring to the headlamp warning light in the center gauge bezel, that lets you know that the headlamp did not get to full-open position after you pulled out the light switch. Or, it could also be telling you that the switch which turns on that warning light has failed (or is broken) in one of your headlamp buckets.

Oh, you mean that RED light.
When you first pull out the headlight switch the little square light in the center dash comes on.
As soon as the headlights are up and locked that red light goes off.
The switches (one for each headlight) are shown here:

Id bet that the switch has broken. I cant quite figure out where it is in the schematic, but it’s made of plastic and threads into the housing. It breaks off at the threads and then won’t close. If you look at it from underneath, you’ll see a wire hanging down with a plastic block hanging from it.

Usually that switch seems to break leaving the light off
You could also look to see if it's not making contact when in the up position, It would mean the lights are out of adjustment or the switch is loose
Until you get a replacement you can just unplug it at the headlamp and get the light to turn off (and save the bulb some life)
As said, they are plastic and very easily broken so although it's likely already broken... don't break it
