Horn Issues
Recently replaced my turn single on my 1975. Horn worked when pushed before the new switch was installed. Now, when I push the horn button nothing happens but when I turn left or right, the horn goes off.Any idea's??
Is this a tele-tilt column?????
Did you replace or make sure you reinstalled the plastic insulator that goes on top of the large U clip you installed when you compressed your lock plate????....if you do have a tele-tilt column.

AS for how you built it....unless you can find some information on an exploded view of how it all goes back together.
You can PM me and I can give you my shop number so I talk you through it do to I know the internals of these column very well.
From what you described it seems like the issue is at the horn button area and upper horn contact....so getting back into it will not be that big of a deal and using a Phillips head screw driver may be all you need..
In POST #2 where WILLCOX posted some helpful information. The photo in the upper right corner is where I feel you problem is at.
BUT...how you installed the LOCK PLATE that went on top of your lower horn contract is CRITICAL. The lock plate can go on two ways ...but ONLY one way is correct.

shop had it working at about 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock.
something is amiss in the column under the button. The good news is the problem is isolated to the column. Bad news is i have no idea where to start. Suggestions welcome.

Now the issue is the aftermarket contacts suck! The retainers for the horn button are not the correct size and this causes issues.
What we typically do is use the aftermarket contacts to rebuild the original. So if you drive the three rivets out of the original and the reproduction contact, then use all the guts from the reproduction but use the horn button retainer from the old contact you can usually fix contact issues and have a contact that will hold the button in place. When you use the old button retainer portion you must make sure it's absolutely clean of rust and debris.... it'll work just fine once re-assembled.
The rivets to take the contact apart are shown in the picture below. If you push hard on the center pin, the rivet will come out... then keep notes on how it came apart so when you re-assemble you'll have it down pat.
