did you convert from a hot air choke to electric and if so is that fitting on the choke housing open to unfiltered air?

That is the heat tube for the electric choke that runs from that opening on the electric choke on the holley to the red plate just to the right of the EGR plate with the white nipple on it in the photo. I just put a rubber block off like you can see in his photo on the carb over the threaded electric choke opening....on mine.

Do you have a switch to operate the electric choke? With that config it will take quite a while for the electric choke to turn OFF.

The chokes arent supposed to turn off but they are supposed to have a fresh air feed to prevent the coil from burning out. Below are the instructions for converting a hot air to electric choke. You dont have to read the whole thing just skip to diagram #9 where it states "do not block fresh air intake". On my conversion I have a short metal pipe with a rubber hose that feeds to a tube in the airhorn for a source of filtered fresh air. Admittedly my Holley is much older, 3310-1, from around 1987.

what I'm referring to is directly above what you circled, the threaded section of the choke housing is the fresh air supply and it looks blocked off with a screw..

I have no idea.... lol... I know it starts and runs good...but if something is not right.. I’d like to fix it. This is how it was when I bought it...
all i e done is block off EGR and slap some paint on it. Seems to run fine but if bubba has it before me and something he did is wrong.... I’d like to correct it

above the secondary vacuum diaphragm it looks like there is a rubber plug. Is that connected to a pipe that gets filtered air from the secondary side of the airhorn? If so that would be a potential source for fresh air going into the choke housing.

so are you saying there should be a hose instead of a plug running into the carb where you see the screw?

ive looked at that area many times wandering what that area was for.... Any photos of what it should look like?

I sent a tech question to Holley.... it I doubt they will get to me anytime soon.
frm what you say and what I read... there should probably be a small hose with a filter attached...it should not be blocked off. Is that correct?
