Default Lites up upon starting

1972 BB, just rebuilt entire headlite vacuum system. Now, as soon as engine starts, buckets pop up and stay up after engine turned off. Any ideas?

I guess you have double checked all your connections more than once. Absence of vacuum to the lighting system would cause that or having a couple of vacuum hoses hooked up backwards. Is the override not pushed in/up? Did you do anything with the switch mounted at the back of the tach? How do you get the lights to 'go down' now?

Override pushed up. I lower buckets manually from below the lights. I’m going to change check valve next.

Vacuum moves the lights in both directions. It's not vacuum one way and spring the other. So it's something to do with the vacuum switching.

Agreed. The small vacuum hose that goes to the small port on your actuator relays MUST have vacuum on it in order to keep the headlight doors down. When the vacuum is stopped to this hose...then the headlight doors go up.

Assuming you have the hoses from the actuator to the relays are correctly routed.
