Thanks for all the positive feedback/vibes everyone....

yes, clearance will be a issue. Looks like I will run in terror of speed bumps and pitched driveways, haha.

As for heat shields, I was thinking a couple different options. Either bent and form sheet metal where it’s going to be needed, wrap the entire header pipe, or thermal insulating Mate(haven’t read up what temp it can handle). Will need to do something for the brake lines that run along the frame rail, however, the car is going to e85 and the fuel lines will be routes differently(away from exhaust). So my concern isn’t so much the passenger side frame rail.

A few years back I struck up a convo with a C3 owning couple at big show in Myrtle Beach. Learned they'd just backpedalled on Hooker side pipes ...she scorched a calf ... they'd just took off the Hooker setup.. yes it was for sale. I met them a few weeks later... full Hooker sbc setup with crap mufflers ... fresh hi-temp black ... NO Rust-thru ... $200 ... luck or Providence?
I’m with ya on filling the entire length of the rocker, but ran into issues with offsetting the side pipes inward of the frame. The side pipes length wise meet the header pipe. Given the room under the car and distance between header and side pipe. There wasn’t enough room to put enough pipe to run the length of the rocker. I was just greatful to be able make it work how it is. It was a tight fit. Got to the point I almost threw in the towel until a few ideas popped into my head.

Little update, I’ve been all over between the c3, callways impala ss build, and getting the c1 ready to sell.

Finally got the headers for the side pipes painted. Just the first coat of four and then they will be baked after.

pffft... your this close to being done, now for the final step. pull the mufflers outa the side pipes and let that engine breath naturally!!
FYI: your ears will thank you even if your neighbors don't ^.^

im on the fence about the mufflers, I’m one for no exhaust but there conflicting advice and data from some the of engine guys saying we may want the mufflers for a bit of back pressure to help scavenging, then the next experienced guys are saying no need for mufflers as the volume produced from the Cubic inches the small block produces would hinder its ability to breath with mufflers. Plus, I really don’t want to have to deal with police every time I want to go for a drive because it’s “to loud”. However, rules are meant to be broken and nothing beats the noise of pure un-muffled header noise

Really superb job. Could it have been done with oval pipe under the frame rail for a tad more road clearence.

that option never crossed my mind, but I’d have to say it would work. The bends and alterations to the pipe could be made to a oval style. It was fairly simple in what it took to pull the angles off I made. Now, you have me second guessing using round pipe.

the more I run it through my head it would of also allowed more clearance between the frame and pipes where I wouldn’t of had to wrap them. Hmmmm decisions, lol

thanks for the lead and info. I’ll look into what they have. So far it looks like what I came up will work, but only time will tell once I finish assembly on the chassis and get it on the ground.

Little quick mock up. Waiting on trans mount and hardware to get in, hence why the pipes aren’t sitting closer to the frame.
