On Saturday I e-mailed Lars for his paper on timing for performance and with in 5 minuets I had the paper in my in box. So off to summit racing I went armed with a new found knowledge from reading the instructions. I picked up timing tape and a re-curve kit from Mr. Gasket. After checking and setting my timing I needed to change springs a couple of times to get 36 degrees of advance in by 2900 rpm. My initial timing was changed to 13 degrees bdc but I now know it dose not matter. I then set my Q jet Idle circuit to max manifold vacuum with a vacuum gauge and took her out for a spin to check for any pinging. Not a peep of ping was detected and while I have only owned this vett ( 1st one for me ) for 3 months it has never run so well and the acceleration has never been this quick. Thank You Lars for the Time and Information you put into the detailed papers and the knowledge you freely share.

Phillip -
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad to see you were able to use the info to get a little more fun out of the car! Good job on the setup and tuning - That's what it's all about!!
Helped with timing ?'s and provided excellent reference materials over last several years.
Great guy and wealth of corvette knowledge.
Glad he is here.

Lars recently went way above and beyond in his efforts to help me with what I thought was a carb problem, but turned out to be ignition related. He even road tested my carb on his friend's car to make sure the carb wasn't the problem. We are fortunate to have his help here.

This hobby works both ways with people helping each other out: Several members here on the CorvetteForum have made generous donations of used/junk Q-Jets to me, and these donations have helped save dozens of carbs for other enthusiasts who would otherwise be out of a carb. Using parts from donated carbs, I just finished saving a carb for a Forum member in Slovenia, and that carb will be going in the mail to south-eastern Europe in time for Christmas. Very cool stuff. Thanks to all of you for your support and generosity to keep this hobby fun and alive!
There is no time in a hobby to drivel, bicker and provide false bravado as we do this for fun.........knowing this, Lars and I think a lot alike when it comes to engines because we have both had hands on dyno and real world experience with countless customers over many years. We did not design this stuff....but we know how it works and just want to steer people the right direction....there is no magic wand....it either works or it doesn't.
To this day it is perplexing to me how much false information is still out there about carbs and distributors.......and how much the average person not in the know will believe it. To me, the proof is in the pudding.......it still makes me smile when a guy like the OP can talk about how much his car picked up from reading a simple paper and performing a simple advance curve.........
I have spoke to people here off forum whenever they have questions....and the key for me is to be unbiased as possible.........we are supposed to enjoy ourselves with these big Sharks........
A few months back I E-mailed Lars to ask him a question on my 82' C20 454 Pickup about the alternator and the wiring......now I have wired and repaired wiring on countless automobiles but this issue was throwing me a loop and I could not see it........I bounced a few questions and ideas off of Lars and it helped me solve the problem. Nice to have savvy tech people like that to talk to.........a true blessing.
Thanks Lars dude and keep the flame........

P.S. Just remember that 90% of all carb problems are ignition!!!!!
Thank you Lars!
Thanks also to so many others here who are so very generous with their time and knowledge. I appreciate your willingness to share information and help others.

[QUOTE=Primož Krajcar;1598403637]That carb Lars is talking about is for me!
And after that tuning the ignition with new Mr. Gasket kit and new carb!
Should be fun! Can't wait![
It took me about 1 hr to do the distributor and carb adjustment and if possible made the car more fun to drive. You just can't beat the fun of being pressed back in the seat when the long pedal is pressed to the floor.
