I have a 1971 corvette I am installing a borgeson box in. and if you look at this pic. (not my pic) you can see the way the rag joint is timed the set screw is not lined up with the flat spot on the column shaft. mine is the same way if I clock the steering wheel straight as it should be the flat spot is the same as in the pic. . my ? is should I leave mine set up just like this one in the pic and drill a spot for the set screw to seat. or can I turn the column flange to the factory flat spot and then go inside car and turn my steering wheel 1/4 turn at the hub splines to make it straight again ? and will this affect my turn signal canceling ? thanks for any help

This will indeed mess up your turn signal cancelling. For the cancelling to work correctly the steering wheel must be installed on the hub in the factory location, and the wheel pointing straight.

thanks for your reply I finally figured it out. I timed it like in the pic. factory flat spot up on column shaft up and wheels straight. now the blinkers cancel properly. anw steering wheel is straight. thanks jp
