Default Fuel pressure regulator

I have a 72 with the Edelbrock carb
The fuel pressure regulator was DOA, so I replaced it with the only one I could get my hands on quickly, the Mr Gasket (knowing there are issues). Right away, the pressure was higher than the setting. I had to set it to 2lbs to get around the 4lbs needed. After about a week, it's now basically a straight through and my gauge is topping out.

So, any recommendations for a decent unit?

the minimum pressure is 4 to 5 pounds the recommended pressure is 6.5 pounds so did you measure the pressure without a regulator?

I've not pulled it out completely, but it's currently pinging my gauge at the max 15lbs

5 psi is more than enough for any carb. Over 7 psi is too much for many of them. Buy a better regulator on the web. It will be at your house in a few days and you can swap the junk one out. (Then take it back to the store for a full refund. All you need is your sales receipt.)

I have a bunch of Holley regulators. I use Aeromotive regulators now.

I will send you one for free if you pm me your address and pay the shipping.

If you have a reading of 15 psi you haven't given us all the information concerning your car, a factory pump does not put out 15 psi. What kind of fuel pump are you using?

Stock, so I'd also ordered a new gauge with the guess that could be the issue as well.

It does sound like a gauge problem, please let us know if replacing the gauge gives you normal pressure readings.

It was the regulator. The new gauge read 10psi. With the Holley in there, turned down to 5psi everything is humming along nicely.

Thanks all!
