Default Edelbrock EFI tuning help

I’m more of a diesel guy, so I’m pretty lost in the gas tuning world.
There are several modifiable parameters that I’m not sure how to set up.
Its a 76 with the sequential tuned port L82 motor and 35lb injectors.
Its way too rich at idle.
In the A/R setting, is the higher number more fuel or less?
in the “crank fuel” setting, what does that mean?

I don't have the edelbrock manual in front of me, but if it's "Air-fuel ratio", that's parts of air to parts of fuel. Air divided by fuel. Bigger number = more air.

Crank fuel typically means a fuel adder during starting, similar to pumping an accelerator pump to get the motor to fire.

thank you! So, if it’s rich at idle, increasing the number will lean it up?
How would you decide on crank fuel? Back it off until it’s hard to start and then come back up?

Do you have an idle AFR target? Are you seeing <14 at idle? I'd shoot for 14.7, possibly leaner if the motor can take it. If it feels rough, keep lowering the target.

I'd check with the Edelbrock guys or other tuning resources. Which Edelbrock system are you working with? I'll see what I can dig up.

The manual describes most of the settings pretty well, though it doesn't give much by way of guidelines for how to tune crank fuel.

https://static.summitracing.com/glob...l-35930_hx.pdf

There's some good pages out there about crank fuel in other applications.

Fitech seems to have a lot of options, and not very helpful for tuning (adjust to improve): https://fitechefi.com/faq/cranking-fuel/

I think your suggestion is good - back it off until it's hard to start then raise it back up until it feels acceptable. You'll probably have to try it in different conditions to see what works best. Also, take a look at how many options there are for crank fuel vs temperature in the app.

Looking into this has made me want to pick this system up. Some day, when I can go to port injection over TB...
