Default 50 year old spindle and bearing DOA

As part of my differential repair and bushing replacement winter project, I sent the driver side spindle and bearing assembly to Eckler's for rebuilding. Their normal charge is about $250. I got a call today that, not surprising, the assembly requires substantial parts. Only good part was the caliper mounting bracket. I briefly tried to press out the spindle with my 20 ton shop press without success. Eckler's had to heat it with a torch to get the stubborn thing apart. 50 years had caused everything to seize. Bubba also must have done come creative repairs, since the strut attachment arms were bent. At least my project is moving forward. I have the passenger side reassembled, so I just need the bearing/spindle assembly back to get the job finished. My hat's off to you guys who do the rear suspension repairs on a regular basis. Once is enough for me.

Those bent struts were all the rage in the 70’s 80’s a lot were done that way. Not that it was right.
