Finally finished up my bracket set up over the weekend. I stuck with the long water pump, even tho I went and bought a new short pump just in case. I went with 1972 C-10 brackets for the Alt and Steering pump. Not ready to fire it up yet. Will keep you posted.
Since you have all the parts, then if you want to go short water pump it will be easy. Here is my short water pump setup, with Vortec heads and that previously mentioned alternator bracket.... be careful the first time you close your hood. Your alternator is farther forward now and wouldn't want to make contact.
I have all the pulley numbers for my setup if you ever need them.

Is this a 82 vette that has been converted to carb? Are you planning on using the stock shroud? If so, you have to use the short pump since it will stick too far into the shroud and effectively do nothing but cavitate the air.
Thanks for the info on the short pump. Now that you mention the Alt height i see it in the last picture. I will keep an eye on it.
It's interesting to see the difference in pulley line-ups between the short and the long water pump in our pictures next to each other. BTW mine is a 68 that did NOT have an option for both PS and A/C. I tweaked my A/C bracket to run it from the forward-most pulley (forward-most was for smog methinks).
