882 heads are about the best flowing "smog" era heads, according to flow tests by Chevy High Performance magazine. They can have either 2.02" or 1.94" intake valves from the factory. They were used on Corvettes from at least '73 (maybe earlier) through most of the '70s I believe. Not bad heads, but not ultra super performance heads either. They do seem to respond to mild port work (bowl blend, etc) pretty well, I have them on my '74 and it is quite a handful with the cam, etc that I am using.
I'd go for one that is 4-bolt main, if possible. Also, see if you can measure the cylinder diameter to make sure it hasn't already been maxed out on bore. Otherwise, pick the one that seems to be in the best condition I guess.
