I wouldn’t feel comfortable with that installation method on my car, the engine does move, unless you have solid mounts.
Nope, just OEM mounts. The TH400 mounts have less than 1000 miles on 'em.
A good friend gave me a '76 C10 4-Bolt Main Bearing Cap Block (damn good friend, eh). I ordered a 383 kit, with Scat Crank, straight beam Connecting Rods, and racing Pistons, all as a unit balanced. When I first fired it up, I was amazed. I could not feel it running. Big smile. It still runs smooth, with a very very slight jar on start.
I do believe any solid exclusive Frame or exclusive Body mounting is BEST. Maybe even mandatory.
And BTW: I drove it for the first time this morning. Was BLOWN AWAY by the car's performance! Swear it picked up 100 horses, as it now acts like an NOS 383, and goes from 700 to 4000 RPM INSTANTANEOUSLY! Why didn't I install this mod earlier?
DUDE !!!! Thank you !!!! I have nearly exactly the same equipment and have been sratching my head a looong while trying to figure out where to place the sump. An Occam's Razor of a solution. Thanks
