L46: I'm sure you noticed the variety of tanks that are SUPPOSED to fit?
Some are much less $, but have all kinds of holes and fittings.
Is there an exact replacement?
Or is this a time to upgrade?
There are exact reproductions made in USA. I think all C-3 tanks have the AOSMITH logo stamped on the tank. That's what I got. AOSMITH gave out the license.
CC did right by me!
oops edit....AOSMITH was the ORIGINAL O.E.M. MFG!
I'm a picky-curmudgeon! LOL.
Good luck....once in a lifetime event!

I recommend you checkout Paragon Corvette Reproductions for a fuel tank. They have several that are exact for your year and model. For instance, Early 69 and Late 69 take different tanks ( think I recall you have a 69. Anyway you can check it out here Paragon LINK I bought my replacement thank from them. I recommend you get the insulator strips and new bolts. Mine fit perfectly, the return tube was exactly the same as the original tank.
Before I start removing the tank.
Perhaps I should see what the forum has to say?
Anything I should know first?
TIA

Have some silicone spray handy, makes getting the new hoses on much easier. Obtain some new fuel resistant hose in the right sizes, feed and return are different as I recall.
Go here: 1969 Corvette Fuel Tank info. Click on Fuel Tank Saga in the TOC at the top of the page. I have pictures of the old and new tanks on the ground. Also, some of the steps required to R&R the tank.
