Side Yokes
I know there are other threads on this topic but I just can’t find the info i need. I have a 79 with a stock diff and drive shafts. I need to replace my side yokes the stock ones have the u bolt design but the Heavy Duty ones all seem to have the threaded holes which use bolts and straps . Will the Heavy Duty ones with the bolts and straps fit ok ? Also who supplies the best quality side yokes ,I’ve looked at Van Steel but they seem to be out of stock

Yes, they will fit. They may be unnecessary at stock or normal power levels, but if cost isn't an issue, I'd say go for it.
Google "Tom's Differentials" for some of the best quality.
Good luck... GUSTO

Years ago I bought side yokes from Bairs as they sold yokes made by Spencer Forgings, one of the few good ones. I guess you could call Bairs and check if they still sell spencers. Before the spencers I had 'AC-Delco' yokes that were garbage. Super soft and wore out in 5K miles.

Just about the rebuilt axles are made by one place, QC is lacking though so you have to check them when you get them. New axles are most likely imported and the ones I have seen were not hardened. If you have excessive endplay worn axle faces and posi setup are the two things that have to be addressed to get the endplay down. Just replacing the axles won't usually bring them in beyond 020-025".
