Hey everyone,
I started posting on here back in March of 2017! My main posting was asking for advice because I was deep into a 1976 L-48 and found out it needed all new wiring, etc. So I asked if I should continue with it and you all gave me your opinions and it helped. I was going to keep the car and continue when out of the blue, someone wanted it and bought it off me allowing me to purchase a nice '73!
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to work on it at all in the last couple years, though I did buy a new house with a garage! For me that was a big deal!
Anyway, I have a couple questions. I hope it's OK to ask them in the same post, especially since they aren't really related.
I'm working on the interior now and wanted to know if anyone has any pics of the Dakota Digital VHX series gauges in their car. Obviously, I've seen a number of night pics with the LED glow, but was wondering if there was someone who uses these and can tell me if they look good during the day, etc.
My second question is about cruise control. My car is basically a stock '73, 350 sbc, 4-spd. I love driving it, but I'm really looking for a cruiser/highway car, so I'm going to drop a Tremec into it for the overdrive. Due to my age, my legs cramp up quicker than they used to, so I want cruise. I know manual trannies don't aren't typically cruise control cars, but I'd like to hear from anyone with cruise installed in a manual car. Can it be done? How hard is it? What special parts do I need, etc.?
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
There are after market kits out there. They are relatively easy to install just follow the instructions. The one I have does work but not as smoothly as a factory unit. I have the Rostra unit but just do a google search under aftermarket cruise control.
My 93 Accord had it with a clutch. Just remember clutch switch for cruise should be set up different than clutch sw for starter. You want cruise to disengage as soon as pedal gets pushed in off the stop. Starter interlock wants pedal all the way to the floor to fully disengage drivetrain for cranking. OTOH, clutch sw isn't that crucial. You won't be upshifting once cruise is set. And in emergency stop conditions, you hit brake and clutch pretty much together.

I bought a Toyota Tacoma back in 1998 that came with a 5-speed manual, for our newly minted teenage driver. It didn't have cruise control and I knew it would be seeing a lot of interstate travel, so we had the dealer install a system (aftermarket), he offered. 200,000 plus miles later, it still works well.
I try it out every time I drive it just to make sure it is still working.
Thank you all for your responses. I'm sorry I took so long to respond.........my daily driver blew a transmission and I've been car shopping and stressing!
