Default 73 BB Stroker

hi Guys
I have a 73 bb all originyl.
Now I want to build a stroker kit by skip white performance. I prefer the 555cui set but I'm not sure if this works with an original 2 bolt main does anyone have any experience with it?

thanks
greets from switzerland

555 cubic inches requires an aftermarket block. Most typical is 4.250" stroke with 4.560" bore. Production block won't get there. You need to have your block sonic checked to find out how much you can safely bore it and leave enough cylinder wall for rigid cylinders and good ring seal.

I have never trusted any so-called "balanced" rotating assemblies from any online seller. Choose your crank and rods (most affordable forged will probably be Scat including their "pro comp" rods). You'll want to order pistons AFTER you've had the block bored and rough honed so your machinist can final hone it to fit perfectly. Have everything balanced only after you're sure everything fits as it should. If you use the Scat ProComp rods, you shouldn't have to clearance anything unless it's a very early block. Most newer pistons are CNC finished and have very little variance from optimum, many engine builders don't require pistons to be on hand and finish hone the block without them since they're rarely out of spec.

If you choose to buy something already balanced, I'd strongly recommend you contact Mike Lewis (Lewis Racing Engines in California). He has a very loyal following because he does high quality machine work for a reasonable price.

If you decide to go with a 555 cubic inch monster, you'll want a Dart, World or Bowtie block.

One other thing to consider is having a complete engine built by Mark Jones (VortecPro) and have it shipped over. It will be ready to drop in and will make great power. He's another who has a very loyal following for the same reasons as Mike Lewis.

Stock 454 block you are topped out at 496 with .060 over and 4.25 stroke. Really enough for a corvette. In fact you need about 10k in drivetrain mods to use all of a 496.
