I use halogen bulbs on both of my C3s, they can be had for under $10 a bulb. They don't seem to bother other drivers and as far as brightness I find them an excellent choice,. Easy install just remove old bulbs and install new halogen bulbs, no modifications needed. Mine have the fibre optics on the consul and they all work. T

If you are wanting brighter lights another option is to wire in relays to get direct battery voltage instead of running all through the switch. You can get an upgrade harness which is $$ or look at YouTube for DIY. I went DIY cause wiring doesn't scare me 😁

I did this years ago and I don't want for better lights. Adding relays would probably increase the brightness even more, but mine doesn't need it.

I guess we have a consensus. Started using them what seems like 100 years ago on my C2 roadster. Best bang for the buck.

so you guys keep the stock housings and just change the bulb for a halogen? is the factory bulb something other than a typical halogen?

Simple plug and play. No modifications to trim rings or housings. No high temps to melt the plugs.

Just get the H5001 and H5006 from your favorite parts store, halogen sealed beams, direct replacement.

I think i'll go with the sealed beams as well, seems like the easiest replacement. Thanks!
