Default Headlight switch screw

I've been having some trouble removing the old headlight switch nut, I know all I have to do it unscrew it, I just don't know with what I should do it with. Has anyone done this before?

It is the metal part on the inside of the plastic housing.

If you are speaking about the nut with two slots that hold the switch in place, there is a special wrench for it sold by Corvette vendors. After I messed up the electrical plug, and had no lights, I took a flat piece of thin metal and made a wrench with my trusty Dremel. I can send you a picture tomorrow if you need it. Basically, a flat piece of metal, then I cut out a “U” so the metal would only engage the outer shoulders. I don’t think the vendors had a picture of the wrench.

All you need to do is get it turning; then you can use your fingers to remove it. If you don't have the 'special' tool or some snap ring pliers to fit the slots, use the tips of needle-nosed pliers (pliers held in-line with the direction of switch movement) to give it a CCW twist. Just get the tips in the slots and give 1/4 turn or so twist to break it free.

I had that special tool and cant find it. I needed it this week so I used the flat blade like end of one of my short pry bars. It was wide enough to act as a flat head screwdriver although it had that angle on the end so it was a bit of a challenge
