Default Is this a fuse?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to track down my electrical problem (dash lights, blower not working) on my 76.
I'm having trouble finding fusible links, I don't have that block on the left fender like earlier models.
I came across this going into the fuse panel at the firewall, looks like it may be an inline fuse.
I don't want to pull it apart unless I know for sure, it may not go back together. Help would be greatly appreciated.

That is a fusible link, it looks good. When bad, the light colored wire will he melted looking and crispy, a slight tug will make it come apart. The clear plastic part is just the insulator for the connection from the link wire to the harness wire.

that looks to me like a fusible link.
is the blower not working at all or only on certain speeds, did you check the relay?

blower does not run at all. It was working (just installed new) I can run wire from alternator and it fires up. Replaced blower and instrument lights without disconnecting the battery.
I think I fried something on reassembly. The car will start so I think the fusible link at the starter is okay, not sure where else to look.

Why not check it by using a volt meter with needle probes? If it's open, the link is no good. Jerry

Never probe a wire by sticking anything through the coating! Bubba does that, it sets the wire up for failure after the moisture gets in and corrodes.

any idea where there's another fusible link on a 76? Every post I've seen is for older models that are different.
There not listed in the assembly manual.

Dash lights and blower motor are not on the same circuit or fuse. Light problem could be the main switch. With a volt meter you can see if 12 volts is arriving and leaving the main head light switch. Same goes for the heater switch. HF has meters that are very reasonably priced. Be sure and use a wiring schematic for your particular year, so that nothing will get Fried.

I will get a meter and check the switches. Everything went out at once so I thought they have something in common somewhere.

If the blower is not working at all, check out the grounding wire which attaches to one of the blower housing mounting bolts. As a test, you can run a jumper wire from some metal on that blower housing to a frame or bare engine component to see if the blower functions (turn it ON, of course ).

I'll check the ground, but I think its okay.Just got a cheap multimeter and studied up on how to use it. Hopefully I can get out there soon to check the switches.
