Battery cables
Hi just bought a 1974 corvette and took battery out and there is 2red leads I'm guessing someone replaced it I need to know which battery cable runs through the console need to know which one is negitve and which is positive any help would be appreciated thanks

jack the car up. 1 cable bolts to frame at pumpkin right under battery (neg). the other one (positive) runs north thru trans tunnel. if frame end of negative looks like this replace it.

Positive battery cable run in tunnel before tunnel insulation for 69 application
Cable connected in tunnel
Tunnel insulation added over cable. Must leave enough cable to connect to starter at this point.

FIRST disconnect Both battery terminals
with VOM ... separately, check continuity between each cable's terminal and any chassis ground ...
... if continuity, that cable is Negative aka ground.
