I want to replace my valve steim seals. In my repair manuels it says to hook up compressed air where the sparkplug is to hold the valve up while I take the valve spring out. So here's my question, What size air compressor should I get, such as tank size and HP? I'm 16, so I am on a budget(if there is such a thing with a Corvette). Thanks for the help.
You can do the same job by removing the spark plugs and feeding a few inches of clean slick nylon rope into the cylindres (one at a time of course). Pull the engine up onto the compression stroke and the rope will hold the valves up. actually it is safer than compressed air and a whole lot cheaper the a compressor. If you need any more info on that method feel free to e.mail me. The forum seems OK at the moment.

I have heard of the same method with clothes line rope
i've done it this way a couple times myself. pretty much any type of rope will work as long as it is long and flexable enough. last time i used two boot laces tied together. works fine.
