Default 1969 interior touch up

My 69 black interior needs a little touch up on the center gauge cluster plastic piece in a few small spots. It’s 99% good, so I’m not looking to redo the whole piece, just a few small areas that just need a little touch up, like around the seatbelt warning light, where years of pushing it off has rubbed the black color off right around it. What’s the best stuff to use that will closely match the flat black? How do I apply it? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Trying to get an exact match on the sheen of 40+ year-old paint is going to be tough. But, I'd suggest that you buy a can of John Deere 'Blitz' black, shoot a little into the cap, and use a small artist's brush to lightly fill in the edges. The trick on this is NOT to try getting it to cover with one attempt. Just get some to stick where you need it and let it dry....at least an hour or two between coats and no more that 2-3 in one day. If you get too hurried on this, you'll end up with some "over-fill" on the existing paint and it will stick out like a sore thumb.

Slow and easy is the method. And you need to clean the areas to be painted really well so there is no oily or soap residue on those areas. Wish you luck.
