I just did mine a couple of months ago. I took the fill plug out and used a suction gun to extract the old fluid out, and it worked very well. I used Castrol synthetic 75w80 gear oil for the refill. I checked with Castrols tech dept before I put the synthetic oil in the rear, they said it would be good for the rear but not for the 4 speed trans. In the trans it need the heavier old to slow the gears down for shifting. Good luck.
I got an electric oil pump from JC Whitney. It really made to sucking out and pouring in easy. You will a little less than 2 32oz. bottles of gear oil, but put the little bottle of limited slip additive first, then top off with the gear oil.
A suction pump, thought I was missing something with no drain plug on it.
Has anyone drilled and taped it for a drain plug?
I did that to my TR-6 and it made job a snap. :chevy :flag
