1971 Heater Vacuum Control Valve
71 NON AC. The current valve is 4 port but I can only find 9 port replacements (for AC). Looking at the rubber vacuum line attachment to the valve it appears to able to accommodate the 9 port valve, having the 5 other ports blocked off. Will the 9 port work in a non AC car? thanks

I have been looking for the rubber hose attachment that goes on the control head switch/valve (for a car with AC). No luck, none of the vendors have the rubber attachment, they only sell the metal control switch and related hose set. I saw a set on EBay for about $ 45, but it’s used and may also leak. Wilcox has a instruction on how to cut off the hose and then attach to the existing rubber attachment. In my 73 Service Manual it says to “Cut all hoses off at the connector and then attach hoses to the control head vacuum switch.” I used a hose clamping tool, And found that I am losing vacuum somewhere in the HVAC lines or the vacuum switch. I really don't want to go back and remove the console for about the tenth time. Maybe this winter, I will investigate further.

Without completely re-engineering the control head, you can't substitute a 9-port for a 4-port. The port locations are different and the linkage geometry is critical. Just keep looking for a good one at swap meets or buy a junk control with an intact vacuum manifold.
