I had a Muncie with oil drain added by previous owner. He drilled a small hole in the low part of the bottom at an angle and tapped it for a small pipe plug. It does not need to be as big as the factory fill plug. Worked OK but you need to be careful not to over tighten it.

Done.... I drilled and tapped a 1/2 NPT drain plug in my trans case. I left the case full of oil when I drill through the case. I used thick grease on the drill and tap to catch the drill shavings. After tapping I flushed a quart of ATF through the case. Then I flushed it with 2 quarts cheap 75W- 85 gear oil. I could fit my finger into the drain hole and pull out more shavings. Installed my new drain plug. Filled with Sta-lube GL4 Hypoid gear oil. It does seem to shift smoother. I hope I got all the shavings. I guess if I am driving and it locks up I will know I goofed.
