I have a 77 C3 L-82 that I bought recently. It has been rebuilt by the previous owner, with Edelbrock intake and original Quadrajet 4 barrel. There are some minor bogs, hesitation during acceleration at times, and I am considering having the carb cleaned and rebuilt. However, my secondary plan is to swap the Quadrajet with a new comparable Edelbrock. Considering I am a novice in the carb department (as you can likely tell by this post), I am looking for suggestions on which route to take. My gut (and research) tells me to keep the Q-jet and have it rebuilt and tuned?

THe edelbrock bog has to do with the secondary air valve on top of the secondaries. Its the weighted flap that opens with your finger. Quadrajets have the same flap but it is tuneable with a spring and set screw. Edelbrock just discovered this with their new AVS carbs and added a tuneable spring that Rochester had over 50 years ago. Go figure.
If you want to go with the old school look and be closer to original, definitely get a Quadrajet but you will need a new intake that is made for spreadbore carbs. You may already have one if the PO used an adapter plate to fit the edelbrock carb. The one downfall is that as the carbs get older the carb bases may start to seep fuel, then you end up with flooding and fuel evaporation problems
