I originally had Bilstein HD's all around but found with the 360 monospring in the rear, the ride was too bouncy and not damped sufficiently in the rear only. Since the Bilstein Sports are 30% stiffer than the HD's, I decided to switch out the HD's in the rear only and kept the front HD's since with 550 front coils, I did not want any more stiffness up in the front. The result is a perfect combo for the rear 360 composite spring with the sports and 550 front coils with the Bilstein HD's....
I think I’m going to try your set up in my 1980 Vette as a base line , I was worried about it being too stiff up front and that makes sense on the rear spring/shock combo too . Just the info I need

Glad to help......Let me know if you need more advice.....
jbl82 I may just mimic your setup as well. I don't have 35 years left to sort it out on my own! LOL
Do you remember the wheel specs / offset? They look ideal.
Leigh,
I do not know the specs but the wheels were made (no longer) by SLP in a 17 inch ZR1 C4 style for the C3. You may find the specs for the rims with that info....They were an exact turn key replacement for the aluminum 78 rims, with no modifications needed at all.....but in a 17 inch rim, which is why I bought them in the mid 2000's when they were a screaming deal at $600 for all 4 with free shipping......

I've run the Bilstein shocks and thought they were fine, but changed them over to a set of Viking double adjustable shocks.
I started with their recommended settings and could immediately feel a difference. It was amazing and I was able to fine tune it to my preference.
Since then I've started doing a lot of autocross and have also changed out my rear suspension with a Ridetech kit, but I still have those dbl-adj Vikings up front. I have a book that I keep my settings in, so I can soften them for cruising around with the wife or tighten them up for a day at the track.
They cost a little more initially, but I think it's worth it.
I bought the single adjustable QA-1 shocks from Van Steel.
They suggested them as a way to save some money and get an adjustable shock that will perform great on the street.
They recommended to run the double adjustable shocks If I was planning to track my car.
