I would double check the pump flow anyway just in case. I have seen these things get mis-labeled etc.
And a serpentine pump is not the norm on the old school BBCs.
Just pull the rad hose and make sure it pumps well.
I'd feel better.
But yeah, run the vacuum too. Up around 25 degrees at idle with the vacuum on, 15 without it. 10 is way too low.
Cool ride tho, loved your first drive video!

Problem is I sold the car and it heated up with the new owner driving home. He took it to a mechanic and I am trying to find out what is going on and passing along the collective wisdom from the forum. I only had it on the road for about 10 miles and then only two-three miles at a time so it never heated on me. Made me sad to sell it but I just could not physically finish it.
You're thinking of a reverse flow cooling system. Like an 90's model LT-1. The serpentine just uses a pump designed to spin backwards...but it still feeds the block first.
Cooling heads first would be a good idea.....but they didn't set them up that way..
OK..the pump, even though the guy I bought the car from said he changed it, was the wrong one. It was a regular rotation pump as can be seen from the orientation of the vanes. Installed a proper reverse rotation pump and it runs cool as a cucumber.
Thanks for posting the solution most never do. Wish you still had it now?
Yes I am glad it will be finished albeit by another. I have what is called "frozen shoulder" in both arms. I was unable to even get under the dash to change fuses or complete the build. After 50+ years of tinkering on cars I finally had to hang it up. Sold off the major tools and lifts last week. Moving to other pursuits. A change of seasons as it will.

sucks. but there is only one sure fire cure for ageing. just ask Marilyn Monroe, James Dean et al...
Sorry to hear about your frozen shoulders. I had it on my left side and moving it could make you cry. Don't give up, I had a steroid shot and months of PT and exercise brought me back to normal. It took about six months. I now have full mobility and am back under the car. If you don't work through it, most likely it will stay frozen. Best of luck. Jerry
I find that I suffer a little everyday from injuries on the job, play and just getting older.
Modern medicine isn’t for everyone, but do everything you can and fight from having to give up on the things you love.
I’ve been running hard since high school, my knees are shot and I have enough stainless in my leg to set off metal detectors at airports and at the courthouse.
I’m down from running 40 miles a week to about 15 but I refuse to give up because I’m stubborn.
Work through the pain, welcome it and keep pushing it back.
Sounds easy right?
Nope it sucks.
Good luck!

Ditto on the stiff shoulder. Have had it twice, the latest episode was the worst, don't even know what I did to aggravate it. Over-strain I guess, then the scar tissue sets in. Couldn't lift my hand higher than my shoulder without sharp muscle/rotator cuff pain. I gradually worked it out, about 3-6 months, with gradual slow gentle stretching If I got another inch or two or three of movement each day without pain, after stretching, that was a good day. Didn't even go to PT this time around. It's fine now and nice and loose.
We've just got to keep it that way! And it is definately getting harder as I get older.
