Default Engine Number/ ID question

Can anyone help me determine the engine in my 1969 Corvette. The number on the front of the block is:

FA38469

Can anyone tell if it is a 427 or 454?

that is not the engine code, can you post a picture of the engine pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head.

Ah! I see that there should be some number BEFORE the numbers I posted. Looks like they are buried under paint. When I get home tonight I will scrape away the paint.

There should also be a second number stamped on the pad. The VIN derivative of the car the engine was installed in. I think I see it to the left of the engine stamp.

Ok have more info. So the Engine Code is: T0913LM
Which I believe is a Tontowa Engine built Sept 13th 427/390hp manual

I am confused about the VIN stamping. It looks really new. It also doesn't match the car VIN Car VIN is S702xxx
Block VIn is FA38469

What is this engine from? It seems like it is a 427/390hp which is correct for my car 390hp 4 speed car

One more thing. The engine was rebuilt right before I purchased the car. It is clear to see when they decked the block they took down the Engine Code number so far you can barely see it. So it seems VERY odd that the FA38469 number is SO clear. So that was Def re-stamped recently

According to the partial vin and the engine broadcast code on the stamp pad you have a 427/ 390 HP engine from an early 69 Corvette. As for the newer stamp, some engine rebuilders will occasionally stamp them with their own. You're lucky that you can still see the original stamps since most redecked blocks are taken down to where the stamps are gone forever.

The St. Louis VIN derivative stamp would have been 19S702xxx. The FA38469 is likely to be the engine rebuilder's stamp and not factory.

Thank you guys! So it seems what I have found out is:

The car was built Sept 24-26 sometime. The last 7 of the VIN S702616 seems to confirm. The trim tag is B24 which seems to be Sept 24th 1968
The engine date (T0913LM )of 09/13 seems to line up (a few days to ship the engine to St Louis)

It does seem like that FA38469 number is the engine builders job number.

This all puts a smile on my face lol!

Yep. Dates line up. Engines were always assembled first, then sent to St. Louis. Your car was on the assembly line on 9/24. That was a Tuesday. Car was probably completed Wednesday or Thursday.

Every year on 09/25 I will celebrate the car's birthday lol!

Car's name is "The Supernatural Corvette". Cause like Christine, when I got it so many things were broken, now everything works again lol! Dash lights, Radio, Transmission, Trailing Arms, Brake calipers were leaking, Speedo wasn't working. Everything came back to life (I like to tell my wife that, and ignore the days I spent underneath the car and the $3500-$5000 dollars in parts lol!!) It all "Magically" happened like Christine from Stephen King lol
