I am replacing my T/T column and I ordered anew one which is tilt only on my 79. Does anyone have experience doing this and should it work okay? Thanks
Why are you making the change ? Why would you order something your unsure about ?
If you don't have an assembly manual you should buy one, either print or CD. Check Willcoxcorvette.com
Anyway, Google installing a tilt steering column in a 1979 Corvette it should bring up quite a bit of information.
Good Luck,

Good Luck,
Mine was a simple question asking if anyone had done this.
That makes no sense but apparently you need a reason for my inquiry. After a complete disassembly of my column I found the steering knuckle broken the bearing housing broken and the shaft severely scarred. The dimmer switch, horn assembly and turn lever are unusable. It is cost prohibitive for me to address these issues. After I install my new column I will post the results so anyone that asks will have the answer I was seeking.
Steve, I have done this in my C2 and C3, with body off and interior out.
You should find a lot of instruction on line - its a pretty easy job - I would measure the new one and see if it is the same length before putting it in. I have read, which may not be true here, that there is some adjustability on some years, not sure for 79. Good luck!
