Yup! I burned up several cheap thin "metal" blades on one side. Then a carbide blade finished that one side, and the other, and could do it all again.

Lenox Carbide seems to be the way to go. I found some over here on this side of the pond... but they are only available in 9 inches. Do you only have that as well ? I don't think that Lenox makes 8-inch metal carbides...

Just to put a cap on this one... and thank you all for your feedback.

I decided to replace my TA bushings with rubber ones. See here.

The bearings seem in reasonable condition, so I will leave them be for now. I have also decided to rebuild the arms myself. Having priced everything out, it is more cost-efficient to import the tools and do it myself than send to the USA for a rebuild. In fact, just VAT and shipping would more than offset buying the tools.

I must say seeing this fellow at work
