Agreed! A computer run is much safer. It's one thing to know how fast these things are, and quite another to prove it at the drag strip.
There is quite a large potential for parts breakage at this HP level with 50 year old parts. Especially an original car like yours! Mine will have lots of new repo parts on it, and I am not sure whether that is better or worse.

Such an awesome retro setup.......exactly how I would do it......all of the power with none of the loss of what it is (L-71)......it is an "enhanced" setup......so sneaky.
You could win a lot of street races with this! LOL!
I think I would have 255/60/15 BFG's all around......I loved them on my 427/400....flat caps for the win too.....lots of grip for shannigan's as they were so wide......went Bilstien shocks here and urethane sway bar links......you would never know it had a big block with A/C in it unless you were going WAY too fast......

Jebby, yes beautiful. Checked all the boxes with that car: Tri-Power, AC, Vert. Don't know if I've ever seen a Shark with all three.

Leigh, I see you're from NJ. My car came from Malcom Konner Chevrolet in Paramus. They were like the modern day Kerbeck back in the day. Original owner was a stock broker on Wall St. Still have the Malcom Konner sticker on it.

Well after an exhaustive search for Bilstein HDs, everyone's got them back ordered. So to finish out the driving season I just ordered some Delcos from Corvette Central. Got their last set, jeez. In the spring I'll try again for Bilsteins.

If the Delco’s are what they used to be…..it is a damn good shock…..excellent ride.

Delco's are on there now......no better or worse than the worn out F41s. Rear tires still hopping though, so a bushing job is in my future. Oh well, easy enough to drive around.

My more pressing need is sometimes the Holley secondary throttle plates stick CLOSED. This happens after a full throttle redline pull through second gear. I can feel 3rd gear not pulling (2 barrel only). I pull over, pull the secondary closing linkage off to isolate the front and rear throttle plates, and sure enough one or both are stuck closed. I mean really stuck. I presume its caused by the spike in manifold vacuum when the throttle is lifted when shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

I cleaned up both the plates and the bores with emery cloth, lubed the throttle shafts with WD40, but it's still happening. And this only seems to happen after a thorough heat soak (30 minutes of drive time).

Any ideas appreciated.

Do you have a four hole gasket under your car b or an In take with holes instead of an open area either one could cause your proem.

Emery cloth is kinda heavy to clean bores and plates......
You need as smooth a surface as possible on the bores and the plates need sharp edges along margin of the plate to be kissed......I use scotch brite on the plates and steel wool on the bores......
They are snapping shut pretty hard.....how heavy are the vacuum diaphragm springs....?
You also need to verify the closing linkage rods are not overshooting the mark.....they should just close the plates at rest.....adjusted a little too far and they will wedge the plate shut against the bore.....
Also make sure the plates are all actually centered in the bore......when shut....no light should come through.
A little finesse and massaging will get you where you need to be......
I want to drive that pissed off L-71!

Get the bushing and crossmember solid plates installed and the Vette will dig in good.....
