Default carb fuel inlet thread

How do I differentiate between the thread size of the fuel inlet and did they start producing carbs with a 1" fuel inlet in 1971? The info I found online said 1972 and after. I'd bought a 1971 carb for my 1971 car and the fuel inlet thread was too small.

The easiest thing to do is post up the number from the carb you bought. Then it can be decoded as to what it actually came off of. If you bought a commercial rebuilt carb, you could be in for a lot of issues. Lars who was commenting on your other thread is the quadrajet master on here and can tell you all you need to know.

Just install the correct fuel inlet fitting. 7/8" and 1" inlet threads have no impact on carb interchangeability - just use the right fitting. Q-Jets up through 1971 used the 7/8-20 bowl thread. 1972 was first year for the 1"-20 bowl threads. This is completely irrelevant to carb interchangeability. Both thread sizes can be used with fittings to accommodate either 5/16" or 3/8" fuel line.

You don't need an adapter. You just need the plain ol' stock fuel inlet fitting.

1971 carb with 7/8-20 inlet threads and a factory stock inlet fitting for stock 3/8" line:

huh, the carb I ordered off of Ecklers came with a fitting for a 5/16” line so I think the carb I received might not have been from a corvette

You can order another fitting like this one. The 5/8-18 internal threads would work with the 3/8 fuel line. https://quadrajetpower.com/fuel-filt...ds-7-8x20-new/

You just bought yourself a commercially rebuilt carb, and the fitting being wrong is just the start of your problems...
