Tko500 shifter offset, wrong position?
one of them being how the shifter is way too far forward, i got a video of what i mean
i did some measurements and the shifter is about 1.5 inches too far forward
because i couldn't find an easy way to get the rubber shift boot off i just sorta tore it...
and turns out there's already a shifter offset in here, but it's 1.5 inches?
So uh, is this entire shift turret too far forward? How do i relocate it further back? is this a common problem with tko500s in c3s? what do?
Also there's this sort of ring around the rubber shift boot with some bolts through it and duct tape on top. If i remove the duct tape and those bolts will it let me take off the shift boot and examine the turret more closely?

Im in the process of getting my new to me, McLeod 5 speed which is a WC T5 type and the shifter itself can have different offsets for the applicatin. Your shifter looks like its welded so you may have to either have a bracket made to offset it to the rear or look and see if that shifter can be reoved and replaced with a longer offset.
heres some examples

my concern is that it'd need to go really far back for this application, like a 3" straight back offset which is pretty intense and i feel like with a length like that, it'll start striking the body of the car on 2/4/R shifts since it's so long.
here's something i dont get though, it looks like the shift turrets themselves have different offsets relative to the red plate below them.....can you actually install those in different positions? like, get one where the shift turret is all the way back? or do they only mount on the transmission in exactly one way?
just checked the large photo album the previous owner gave me, documenting his restoration process
this is showing the tko shifter mounted, and it looks like it's as far back and left as it can possibly go
Thing is, this is supposed to be one of those american powertrain pro fit kits, so it should be precisely positioned from the beginning, you shouldn't need this kind of shifter offset.
now i'm wondering if, like, the entire center console is shifted too far back for some reason?
it'd explain some other weirdness, like how the parking brake lever isn't laying down properly, hmmm

it turns out the center of my upper dash pad has been sagging down, which pushes the entire center stack down, pushing the center console back towards the rear of the car. This causes all kinds of havoc including the shifter offset i was seeing
