Installing Fuel Lines
I removed my fuel lines that go to my TBIs and I tried putting them back in and could not seem to get them to not leak without really twisting them on... I was told to use crescent wrenches only on the fuel lines as they are soft (also had a crows foot wrench on my brass fitting). Rounded one of them pretty bad with my Taiwanese crescent wrench before I just used a quality box wrench. Got frustrated and ordered new fuel lines and am in the process of rebuilding my entire throttle body units.
Plan to put everything back together this weekend. How tight do I need to make fuel lines? Previous owner had random teflon tape on one and not the other lines. Old gas had been spilling and accumulating for years. My thought is use a quality wrench this time and go until I hear a metallic screech sound. Maybe the lousy crescent wrench was my mistake and this install will be painless.
They won’t round off the tubing nut.
not that expensive on amazon. It’ll save you some heartache.

. Just went ahead and rebuilt entire TBIs and attached fuel lines on the bench.... Gushed gas.
PSA: fuel lines are sealed with the inner flange not the threads... Removed the air pump, seated the flanges -> then screwed the caps on. One can screw the fasteners as tight as they want but if the flanges arent centered the lines leak. Major PITA.
PSA: Metal washers in TBI injector housing have a flat side and domed side. Need a magnifying glass (I'm 27 btw...). Gasket MUST be flat side down. Shot gas 5 feet and hit the C6. Niether the manual or TBI service kit mention the orientation of this gasket.
PSA: Bottom out pressure regulator screw to reduce spring tension-> less chance of puckering diaphragm.
Car idles much better now and is quiet.
