Default C3 steering column replacement optical illusion

Maybe old age is getting to me BUT I am noticing while rebuilding and installing my steering column...…..the entire steering column assembly including the steering box sits at a very slight but noticeable "angle"...….. am I seeing that correctly ???? That would throw the wheel with the seat alignment off slightly also ??? Does the steering wheel typically center to the center of the seat ( or driver ) ……..never noticed any of this before any help is much appreciated ……..Thank You !!!!!

Yes, the column is angled. We're lucky Corvettes have the pedals in front of us. Some cars have them way to the side.

The seat is 'square' with the body. The column is angled a bit, but the wheel is centered in front of you. Yes, there is a minicule angling of the steering wheel...which you never see nor never feel. That's the way they were made.

There is no adjustment to remove the [designed] angle of the steering column to the axis of the vehicle.

The steering column is angled to place the steering box to the left of the engine. The engine is also slightly to the right of the midline of the vehicle.

Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. Like the arrow in the FedEx logo.

I never noticed it myself until two years ago when I had the dash and column out to rebuild the pedal box and install cruise control. I thought I had really messed up something. Looked at my friends 68 and his was the same, maybe more pronounced. I see it every time now. As I recall the bolt holes in the mount pieces are slotted and allow for a very small bit of up and down, left and right positioning but you can't get it straight.
