So long story short, car has been sitting for many years. got it to my place and running 2 years ago. fuel pump died, got a new one, ran then carb started leaking. had it rebuilt. it ran for a bit, then sat over the winter, no start, another new fuel pump, carb is leaking again. looks like one of the bowl screws is stripped. it is a holley, so not the original. i am not looking for performance, just a car that will run and i can take my kids to the ice cream store or for a ride with my wife. at the moment it has a 7002-1, which looks to be a holly 4175 perhaps. i would like to go back to the original rochester if i can, but not sure the air cleaner housing will fit. so really, i'd like to buy, new or used from here, a carb i can install and run. again, im not looking for super performance. ease of use is better! thanks!
A well tuned carb is going to give the best performance.....carbs don't "add power" per say unless there are mods to support a larger carb.
I would recommend just purchasing a new 4175 like you have. https://www.holley.com/products/fuel...parts/0-80555C
You can search for a Q-Jet on E-Bay or other sources......You can contact Lars Grismund via E-mail and ask him what series of Q-Jet would be best. When and if you do find one, send it to him for refurbishment.....but since you are unsure what you are really looking for, the Holley would be a bolt on and go situation for you.
I would rather go back to the rochester if i could to be honest. just for keeping things stock. if i found a Q-jet MV4, i shouldnt have much to do to bolt it on correct? from looking at pictures, the tubes look to match up pretty well.

Beware of the fact that you cannot buy a "new" Q-Jet. The Q-Jets being sold as "new" or "remanufactured" are absolute complete junk - many are actually not serviceable/operational. E-mail me for my "Commercially Rebuilt Q-Jet Problems" paper to get an idea of what you're getting yourself into with one of these hacked carbs before you buy one. The only good way to get a reliable, well-performing Q-Jet is to find a good, used, non-rebuilt carb and do a good rebuild on it to set it up right. Some people get lucky and have good luck with a commercial carb. It's not often that I see that...

My 74 had an edelbrock carb and intake on it that looked to be brand new when I bought it... Whatever it was made of seemed to react with the ethanol in the gas and I found I had a carb full of clear jelly come spring time. I bought a used holly 670 carb on ebay and rebuilt it using you tube videos and that was 6 years ago.. short of changing out the jet size and accelerator pump size a year later I have not had to touch the thing since... I only mention this to point out a non original holley carb doesnt necessarily mean constant tinkering and an unreliable setup. Many have a desire to overcarb with 750cfm carbs on a mild/stock 350 and then proceed to fight to get it dialed in creating much of thier own headaches.
Qjets are great but to be honest they require more knowledge to service than most mechanics these days have of them since they were so often swapped out due to being more complex... You end up having to send the carb to someone like Lars with the knowledge to set them up correctly and hope those resources will always be there.. I have my original qjet and intake which came in a spare parts box along with partially used rebuild kits from someone who tried rebuilding and obviously gave up before buying the edelbrock setup. While I am saving it along with the original engine in case a future buyer ever feels the need to reinstall, I havent thought twice about it since I got the 670 "avenger" dialed in.. its plenty of carb even for my mild 355 build with stainless sidepipes and vodoo 468/489 cam and Dart heads.

If I were in your shoes, I'd create a "wanted to buy" thread in the C3 parts Forum for a good used QuadraJet. Once you find one, send it to Lars for a rebuild.
