Don't they refer to the right and left hand threads? There may be a convention set in the AIM or the Shop Manual. But I put all of my left-hand threads on the left side of the car (heim-jointed strut rods work similarly).

Thread them into the sleeve.....the sleeve is the tell....can only go on one way. One end of the sleeve is RHT the other end should be LHT, so when you spin it one way or the other to align, they either spread apart or come together.

Hope this helps explain:

But it should be interchangeable.....both tie rods are the same save for the thread. Must just have been how they were installed at the factory...same side to side....

i feel much better. 2 conflicting ways to install them. left hand treads to the right of the tie rod, or left hand threads to the outboard side of the tie rod.

Once you have them put together, the assemblies are identical and can be installed as a driver or passenger side provided the sleeve is the same length. I would install them so that when you rotate the sleeve up, it expands and down it contracts when viewed from the same side, either from the front or rear. It'll just make it Easier when aligning the front end

I marked my left hand threads with red tape (red = port = left), and have them all towards the left side of the car.

The clamps, as pictured in post 10, are specific side to side (not the clamps themselves, but the orientation), so if you assemble everything off of the car, it will matter which assembly goes where. But right hand vs left hand is your own preference.

You can get approval for a million-dollar proposal from the Board of Directors in 30 seconds; but don't ask them what color to paint the bicycle rack, or you will be there for hours.....
