OK, it's not a C-3, but I figure there are so many car gurus here that someone should know this.
I just replaced the front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors on my Stealth. Ever since, I've had a speed variable clicking coming from the pass. side brakes whenever I'm coming to a stop. I looked on the 3SI forum, and several members experienced the same thing after they put on cheap pads. Well .. they are cheap pads, but they're the same kind I used last time with no problems at all.
So I pulled off the caliper and looked at the pads. They seemed fine except on the outer pass. side pad there was a rectangular section on one corner about the size of a quarter that looked like it hadn't been touching the rotor. (i.e. the pad wasn't perfectly flat). Could this be causing the noise? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, and please don't kill me for posting a non-C3 question. :D
You mean those shim thingies? Yes, I transferred those from the old pads to the new. Then I removed them to see if they were the source of the clicking, and nothing changed. I'm going to put them back on this weekend and also bleed the calipers (again). If that doesn't work then I guess I'll spring for the $70 pads as was suggested at the 3SI forum.
The noise is driving me crazy. It seems to get worse once they've heated up. I have never had this problem before. :mad
Before you buy new pads, you might try swapping sides with the ones you have if they are fairly new, this would tell you if it's the pads or something else.

I thought about trying that, but these pads actually have a top & bottom so they can't be swapped left to right. :nonod:
