So my brother in law and I opened up pandoras box from my father in law last night haha. Traded him a bike for vette. It's an all original 77 94k miles. Carb is jacked, primary stays open secondary doesnt open at all.
I've been searching and found that the EPS 2101 intake will fit under the hood with the EDL-1906 AVS2 carb. Correct me if I'm wrong please. And I'll pair it with some nice headers for a true dual.
Literally 100%stock. These vacuum lines have me all confused. Cause it will not have emissions so is there things I need to delete/not get? Is there parts I need for the intake to attach to the coolant line? Should I spend 50$ from ecklers and get the newer vacuum lines? Is there a diagram on how to install the vaccum lines?
Also haha I was so excited on popping open the headlights....... they are stuck open 😅 would appreciate that too hahahaha.
How did you determine the secondary doesn't open?
If it is the original Quadrajet the secondary air valve, top of carburetor, will not open up by revving the engine in neutral.

Didn't knew that's how it worked. When I drove it I'm fine for 3200 rpms. After that or when you give it gas it starts to shudder. A d the primary is stuck open. Will the edl-2701 with the avs2 carb and drop down air filter fit?
If the headlights don't operate, you have at least one vacuum leak somewhere. It may be causing running issues, too. The best carb for that car is the one that is on there, if it is still the original Q-Jet. @lars on this forum can rebuild it better than new, or help you do it yourself if you email him for setup instructions. Ask for his timing instructions, too. It can make a HUGE difference.
Throwing an Edelbrock carb on there is a step backwards in carb technology, and will still need tuning.
Please post some photos! Forum members may spot something obvious and simple to fix.

That is the choke that is staying open. Is the engine warm in this picture? That's what it should be doing. Tomorrow morning it should be shut, after you pump the gas pedal to the floor twice to reset the fast idle cam, etc. That carb looks original, though, so that is great news! If it is not functioning correctly now, once rebuilt it will almost certainly outperform anything else you can put on that engine.
I'd strongly suggest you email @lars and get his Q-Jet and timing papers, and educate yourself on the Quadrajet. Cliff Ruggles' Quadrajet book is also helpful.

engine is cold. I haven't ran it cause I need to blees brakes and change oil. I'll go check the gas pedal method right now
You appear to be unfamiliar with carburetors so slapping another one on isn't going to solve anything.
Are you aware on a cold carbureted engine you have to step at least once to set the choke and probably two more times to prime the carburetor.
Post a picture of the passenger side of the carburetor so the choke mechanism can be seen.

yeah I'm completely unfamiliar with cars pre 2000 (I'm only 27) but I will post more pics when I get home. I appreciate the help guys.
