factory sound deadener
I'm in the process of removing all of the interior factory sound deadener. The AIM shows it sprayed on the floors and cargo area. I would like to put something similar back. What is comparable to the factory coating? I am considering using a peel and stick foil backed type but I am concerned that it will be too thick under the carpet and cause fitment issues. How about a spray on type product like lizard skin? Is that the way to go?

The original factory sound deadener was tar impregnated cardboard (or something similar to that). Most folks threw that 'nasty stuff' away when they redid the interior...not knowing of its importance. Something with some mass, dense, and still flexible is what you want. That will absorb mid-to-high frequency sounds (rattles, chirps, squeaks, etc)--you know, the obnoxious sounds in a cabin.
